You will perhaps need to consider a frenuloplasty if you are having difficulty in retracting the foreskin of your penis.
This may be due to a covering of skin that attaches the penis head to the penis that becomes very tight. This tightness results in an inability to retract the foreskin over the head of the penis. This can cause some problems as follows:
-Pain when trying to retract the foreskin
-Difficulty in cleaning the head of the penis
-Hygiene issues because of the inability of clean
-Sexual intercourse can be painful or sometimes impossible
-Can cause bleeding

What happens with a Frenuloplasty?

This procedure can be performed on its own, but we often have requests for it in conjunction with another operation. For example, we carry our many penis enlargement operations, and many men find it an ideal opportunity to correct a tight frenulum at the same time.
The procedure can be performed under general or local anaesthetic. It takes around half an hour and in some cases less than that. It should be done in a sterile setting such as an operating theatre by either a Urologist or a Plastic Surgeon.
The Surgeon works by releasing the tight layer of skin; it is also lengthened so that you can retract the foreskin easily.

Are there any complications with a frenuloplasty?

Most Patients experience no complications following a frenuloplasty. It is a minor surgical procedure and provided that you choose an experienced surgeon and a good hospital, you will minimise any risks. Of course, all procedures carry risks and these are the key ones that your Surgeon may discuss with you at your consultation.
-It is possible, although unlikely that the frenulum may not release
-You may experience some pain and discomfort temporarily after the procedure
-The frenulum may tear again
-You may require a circumcision if the frenulum is too tight

If the whole of your frenulum is tight, then you may require a circumcision instead. A frenuloplasty is only performed where the frenulum is too tight.
